حضرت عبداللہ بن عباس ( رض) کی روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کے سب سے بڑے صاحبزادے قاسم تھے۔ ان سے چھوٹی حضرت زینب تھیں، ان سے چھوٹے حضرت عبداللہ تھے پھر علی الترتیب تین صاحبزادیاں ام کلثوم، فاطمہ اور رقیہ تھیں۔ ان میں سے سب سے پہلے حضرت قاسم کا انتقال ہوا۔ پھر حضرت عبداللہ نے وفات پائی۔ اس پر عاص بن وائل نے کہا : محمد ﷺ ابتر ہیں، ان کا کوئی بیٹا نہیں جو ان کا قائم مقام بنے۔ جب وہ مرجائیں گے تو ان کا نام دنیا سے مٹ جائے گا اور ان سے تمہارا پیچھا چھوٹ جائے گا۔ عطاء کہتے ہیں کہ جب حضور ﷺ کے دوسرے صاحبزادے کا انتقال ہوا تو حضور کا اپنا چچا ابولہب جس کا گھر بالکل حضور کے گھر سے متصل تھا، مشرکین کے پاس گیا اور ان کو یہ خوشخبری دی کہ بَتِرَ مُحَمَّدٌ اللَّیْلَۃَ ” آج رات محمد ﷺ لاولد ہوگئے یا ان کی جڑ کٹ گئی۔ “ اولاد کی محبت کس باپ کے دل میں نہیں ہوتی اور لڑکپن میں ان کا چل بسنا سنگدل آدمی کو بھی آبدیدہ کردیتا ہے۔ ایسے موقع پر بداخلاق سے بداخلاق آدمی بھی ہمدردی کا اظہار کرنے پر مجبور ہوتا ہے۔ لیکن آنحضرت (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے قریبی عزیز بھی ہمدردی کا اظہار تو کیا کرتے اس پر خوشیاں منا رہے تھے کہ آپ کی نرینہ اولاد موت کی نذر ہوگئی۔ اس طرح سے آپ کی جڑ کٹ گئی ہے۔ اب آپ کے بعد آپ کا کوئی نام لیوا تک نہیں ہوگا۔ اس پر اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ سورة نازل فرمائی اور آپ کے زخمی اور محزون دل کو حوصلہ دینے کے لیے اپنے ان انعامات کا ذکر فرمایا جس کا آج تک کسی انسان نے تصور تک نہیں کیا تھا۔
